the future of merged
One of our projects, and possibly our biggest one, Merged.games, is going to be different from any other Minecraft server.
To guarantee an exceptional developer and player experience, we are building our own software and optimizations on top of PaperMC.
When we recently tested our server, we got some really good results. We had 500 test players moving around, and the server was only using 30% of its power. This means that each server could potentially handle about 1666 players without any lag. Since we have 7 servers, we could have over 11600 players playing at the same time. Of course this is just if we calculate it using a linear function. Handling network and other small tasks also consume power. Its safe to say, that we are prepared for the future.
Whats next?
There are currently two things in progress. After we complete these tasks, we are able to continue to work on our custom protocols and ecosystem.
-
Developing the Server: We’re testing everything and making our software run even better which orchestrate the smaller servers. We want to make sure everything works perfectly when players join the first time.
-
Building Maps: Builders are creating maps that are different from what you usually see. We want to make new types of games that you can’t play anywhere else.
We’re trying to make something that’s both new and fun while keeping everyone safe while they play. We’ve got some really cool ideas that no one has done before in Minecraft, and we’ll tell you more about them soon.
Stay tuned - we can’t wait to show you what we’re making!
